I just purchased this rifle, and wanted to see if it is all original. It is a Model 70, .243, 1976 model according to the serial no. It has a walnut stock, with ebony grip cap and forend tip with whiteline spacers. It has a 24" blue, varmint contour barrel.

Just haven't seen one of the model 70s with a heavy barrel and walnut stock. I've seen Remingtons in the varmint configuration with a BDL stock.

Any info on this rifle woluld be greatly appreciated!

FWIW, I have a Win M70 HB in .243 also, but it is a 1965 production, built on a long action. Barrel is original Winchester too. Walnut stock. Shoots like a dream!

Vic, Thanks for the info, just wasn't sure if this was original. Guess it is. It too has the original winchester barrel. Everything appears to be factory original, no refinish to stock, and blueing is 98%.

Do you have any pics of your rifle?

Thanks for everything,
Al

Actually, I don't have any pics now that I think about it... Hmm...might have to take it out & get some pics of it.

Looking at your pics, your stock is fairly different from mine. Barrel taper may be different too, but I am not certain there.

The barrel on this one tapers from aprox. 1.520" to .820" at muzzle. No need to go to any trouble gettin pic, unless you insist. :D

Thanks,Al
