I want to make my own Ching Sling, but have never held one and I've only seen pictures. I know the width is 1 inch, but if someone could give me a good idea of the two lengths, that would be awesome. Construction itself isn't that difficult for me, but I hate to go through all that trouble and make it too long or short.

Thanks,

Chris

I've made a number off my Galco Ching sing, in both 1" and 1 1/4" using leather and nylon. The leather slings work the best. Here's the lengths, +/- due to me not completely unfolding them at the ends. Hey, what can I say, I'm lazy. :) The long piece is 44 1/2" long and the short piece is 14 1/2" long. The ends fold over 1 1/2" to secure to the swivels and loop. The first hole in on all ends is at 1/2". The long piece has 26 holes from one end counting the first at 1/2" and they are on 1" centers. I used a piece of chain link from the hardware store for the loop to attach the short to the long. You may need to file them a little to fit and I cold blued them too. I used a rubber "foot" for something like a tape deck, etc for the slider stop. Hope this makes sense. :)

AK103K,

That's perfect. Exactly what I needed. I figured those were about the lengths I needed (I was guessing 50" and 16"). For the loop attachment, I already have some rectangular brass pieces in the right size that were made for that purpose and I also have the brass screws from another project. I just needed a good starting point.

Thanks for the response. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Chris
