Here in PA it's the animal lover/tree hugger that want to hike on state game lands that is holding up getting the law changed. They think the the animals need a day of rest from being hunted. They want to hike the game lands, that hunters paid for through their hunting license fees, with out worring about anybody hunting.

Hillsdale Co., MI also. I think there are a few other places in Michigan too.

The crazy thing is in NY they had some parts of the state with Sunday hunting laws, but not others.

I believe for the past few years there are no Sun. hunting bans in NY.

It's not really all about religion anymore either.
It's also about how the state regulates the # of deer harvested.
Here in CT there are virtually no restrictions on obtaining deer permits, and having a permit for one deer hunting season doesn't restrict anyone from obtaining other deer permits for all of the other deer seasons. Plus we also have a muzzle loading season that's totally distinct from the firearms season.
There have been unsuccessful attempts to end the Sunday ban for archery hunting only. But since baiting was legalized in certain high density deer areas, they voted to not allow Sunday hunting too. That's because if too many deer are harvested, then the number of permits might need to be restricted.
Plus the majority of citizens are non-hunters.

in CT you can't buy alcohol on Sundays

Georgia's no different. There has even been a bill each of the last several years, that has been gaining ground. But the govenor keeps saying (paraphrased) "If you want to drink on Sunday, plan ahead and buy it on Saturday." No laws against drinking, even at restaurants and bars. You just can't buy alcohol at a store, take it home, and drink in peace.

At least we can hunt on Sunday.

It's been that way, up here, in Ontario, with a rifle only, for eons. You have always been ok to hunt with a bow on Sunday. Then our idiot socialist Provincial government changed the law and let the municipalities decide. Now you can be legal on one side of a road but not on the other.
Most of our booze stores are open 7 days a week. Our Provincial govenment holds the monoply for liquor, but beer stores are owned by the breweries. Both unionized and the workies are paid skilled wages to work retail.

There is a bowhunting bill on Governor Corzine's desk RIGHT NOW that was passed by the Assembly on March 16 by a 69-9 margin.

Write, call or email him and ask him to sign this bill into law.

You beat me to it. I believe its confined to private property and certain WMA's

Thank god I live in oregon where I can stop by the local ATF store and pick up some beers or a bottle and a box of shells seven days a week. But god forbid I want to hunt couger or black bear with dogs.

Lol, then there's always the silver lining in every cloud!

yeah, we can't hunt on Sundays, but we have it pretty good otherwise. I have alot of freinds in other states where Sunday hunting is allowed, I'm glad I"m in VA.

It cost me $17 a year for a hunting license
Big Game tags are $17, include 3 deer either sex, 3 deer antlerless, 3 turkey, and 1 bear.
Bow license $17
Muzzleloader $17
Bonus deer tags (2) are $17 and no limit on the number you purchase
No lotteries, only restriction is hunter safety course

Deer Season
Bow only season is a month long
2 week muzzleloader season
6 week general firearms season
We also now have urban archery seasons in several places starting 1 month before bow season and going 3 months after the regular season is out.

So I can legally hunt deer for 7 months, I can live without hunting Sundays.
