Has anybody had any experience with the Ceiner .22 conversion kit for the Browning HiPower?

If not then I'd also be interested in your experiences with any of the other Ceiner .22 conversion kits and/or with Ceiner customer service.

Thanks,
ddc.

I don't have one for a Hi-Power, but I do have one for a 1911.
It has good and bad points. First of all it is very peticular about what ammo it will run on. CCI Mini-Mags work, so I bought a case of it just for that gun. The Wal-Mart stuff doesn't run more than one or two without a malfunction. It also seems to be slightly sensitive to being dirty. It isn't bad, but malfunctions earlier than say, my Ruger Mk.II (earlier in terms of hundreds of rounds fired before problems start). On the other hand, it is VERY accurate. Customer service is OK. When I first got it, I thought I had a problem with it because of the malfunctions. I called them and it sounded like a party going on in the background. I sent them the conversion unit and they said they couldn't find a problem with it. At the time I wasn't happy but later I realized that if I found a brand of ammo that it worked with, it worked great.

I have told this story a bunch of times on here but I thought it was funny. We have a guy and his son here in town that consider themselves gun geniuses and crack shots. One day I was out shooting my Colt Officer's Model and the Ceiner conversion. I see these guys come driving in and they stopped next to me. I started talking to them and the father proceeds to tell me what a great shot his son is. Not only that, but he also has possibly the greatest .22 pistol ever made (that they would sell me for $500). The son offers a demonstration. About 50 yards away is a big mound of dirt and on it, are a 3-4 clay pidgions. The son loads his pistol, walks to within about 20 yards of them and fires the whole magazine without hitting them. When he got back to the truck, I slipped a magazine into my Officer's Model, stayed right next to their truck and hit them all with one shot a piece. :D
Obviously at the time I was shooting a lot (3-4 times a week) and was already warmed up before they got there. I doubt I could duplicate my feat right now, but it was a real laugh to me at the time.

444,
That's a great story; wish I could have been there!
Thaniks for the Ceiner feedback too.

I have a Ceiner conversion for my Taurus...I love it despite the fact it is finicky about ammo and dirt. I found that the slightest bit of grime would keep the slide from closing completely, so I checked the recoil spring, and sure enough found it was weakened and compressed. I ordered several springs from Ceiner (at about .35 each) and found that this solved most of the problem.

The kit is very accurate with the right ammo. I like being able to practice firing with the full-size Taurus for less cost than 9mm ammo.

Hope this helps.
