So I got this mega cheap ($10) Chinese crossbow pistol for a Christmas gift from my girlfriend. I had one of these when I was a kid, but it seems the quality has improved or I just got lucky, as this one is much more accurate and durable.
Here's the same one on a website that has a storefront local to me.

According to places these are sold online, the draw weight is 50lbs, and the average velocity is around 135 FPS with 6.5" ABS bolts. I use the aluminum bolts which are heavier, so lets say 100-110 FPS. The lighter ABS bolts have a flatter trajectory and I can hit a paper plate at 25yards no problem. The aluminum bolts have more drop to them but have much greater penetration within the true effective range of the crossbow which is about 25-30 feet on small game. Essentially these can be used to take pests at close range but they are much more suited for "plinking" at medium range.
And here it is with my modifications. The first pic shows the aluminum skeleton stock in the folded position. it can be fired in this position, either one handed or with the support hand gripping the part of the stock in front of the trigger guard.
This shows the stock mounting point. Its held in place by a #10 screw and spring pressure against the stock from the plastic grip. The second screw with the ring is screwed in to secure the stock when open, and unscrewed to allow it to swing to the right and forward. It feels quite solid.
This pic shows the rear sight which I turned around and remounted more solidly and as a bonus it increases the sight radius to help accuracy, and the extended safety catch I added which makes it possible to carry the crossbow ready to fire with the safety on, and flick it off with the firing hands thumb to take a shot.
These last pics are of the crossbow with the stock extended, one unloaded and one loaded and ready to fire. The LOP looks short but it fits just right, basically its the same LOP as my NEF Pardner pump if you want to look up a pic for reference.
I don't want anyone to think im trying to make this thing a serious hunting or, much more absurdly, a defense weapon. I just kind of like the thing and despite being super cheap, it does what it does very well, and has been a lot of fun to tinker with.
