Does anyone has any experience with the 7.62 x 39 Chinese ammo ? Is it about the same as Wolf ?

The stuff that was imported before Olympic Arms released their AK pistol, and BATFE reclassified it as armor piercing? I shot a bunch of it years ago, typical surplus ammo.

A buddy want to sell me some for the range. Whats a 500 lot worth ?

I just bought 1120 rounds for $189 plus shipping from AIM

1,120rd case (28 boxes): $189.00ea

Beautiful Surplus Yugoslavian 7.62x39 ammunition. This is the best shooting 7.62x39 ammunition available. Features a 123grn lead core copper jacketed bullet, brass case, and berdan corrosive primer. Packed 10rds on a steel charger (stripper clip), 40rds (4 SKS chargers) in a box , and 1,120rds (28 boxes and 112 chargers) sealed in metal tin inside of a hinged latched wooden case. At these prices... while supplies last!

Have not used the Chinese stuff but the above gives you an idea of price per round. 5.92 cents a shot isn't to bad considering.

The best deal going is the Yugo in strippers . THe Chicom ammo is more for collector's but it shoots quite well. Those were the ones used by the VC during the VIetnam War. It has a steel core as most said it is.

If it is Norinco commercial, it is non-corrosive, lead-core, and is excellent ammo and is better than Wolf IMO.

I shot a lot of Chinese 7.62 and 54 in a Mosin model 39 I owned. The ammo was better than any of the combloc stuff I used and was brass cased, not steel. If the Chinese want they can build anything as good as anyone but they can also build cheap crap cheaper than anyone. Just depends upon how the contract reads.

I treat all Chinese 7.62x39 as possible corrosive ammo... regardless of what the box may say,... I found out the hard way. When this stuff was everywhere and cheap I found that most of the boxes said Non-corrosive, but the ammo was anyway.
That said, it is all good stuff and probably made to Chinese Mil-spec... (i.e. ) sealed at the primer and the case mouth with Lacquered cases.

Yes, we must assume all berdan primed (non reloadable) ammo as corrosive. Maybe not, but field strip and clean everything -inside and out- after each session -anyway. I remember buying it for that price- nearly 20 years ago. There was no US made, and no ex-soviet or eastern european ammo yet, Norinco was the only game in town, and nothing wrong with it. This might be old stuff, if steel core- good for you , don't waste it, like money in the bank, You can't even handload its equal. BTW, it was the thompson contender barrel in this calibre that caused the first stir over this stuff, again in the earlly 90's...

One round missing from photo
Chinese steel core-corossive-copper dipped steel case.
I purchased 2200 rds for $180.00 back in the 80's. ( 8 cents per round)
I still have 1600 rds left.
I use reloads today--my oldest uses this Chinese in his AK & SKS.
Very accurate ammo.
Clean your gun at the range with Windex--then clean the regular way when you get home.

I use a garden hole to flush my rifle barrel after i shoot corrosive ammo. Then do my usual routine after that. NO big deal . It cleans up quite well.
