Don’t scoff: take away those Cocobolo or rosewood grips, checkered front strap, and you still have a Colt .45. As Col. Jeff C., reminds us, the 1911 was designed to feed and fire only FMJ 230-gr ball ammo. Well, I found out this is not the case. Not after the Tripp’s work on a pistol. This Sistema is built to Colt’s specs, (O.K. Argentine steel is said to be soft), and how did it perform on the range with 230 FMJ & 230 JHP’s? GREAT!!
It not only looks good, but it responded like I would imagine a Les Baer, Ed Brown, or a Kimber would feel. Actually, never craved for an expensive pistol. What’s really nice is that since the whole pistol is CobraChromed, you can differentiate the dirty areas & the clean-up is a snap.
7 & 9 paces “Failure drill”…..The whole time I had a big smile thinking that this started with a plain as vanilla $200 pistol….
Looking forward to another Tripp, pardon the pun, to Alpine with another ugly pistol.
P.S. In the latest issue of 1911 Review, by Guns & Ammo, they have a 2-page spread on the Argentine Sistema near the back of the issue.
