I'm considering buying a Claridge Hi-Tec C9 9mm carbine with composite stock. Can anyone shed some light on these guns?

I have never heard of those

I did a quick search and found a youtube.

But...... and just curious, ....... because I have looked at Carbines in pistol caliber, and havent yet found the key need or role. Every other weapon I have is Hunting, CCW, or HD.

It looks fun to plink with, (And thats good enough I guess) but
for you, what role would this be used in?

Again..... just curious

I can remember when the original Goncz pistols came out; quite futuristic looking back then. I have never seen a Claridge carbine before and would be primarily concerned about spare parts and any possible problems with it, seeing as how not that many were made and then finding a gunsmith who could work on it.

You ask "what's the use for a Pistol calibre carbine"? Well, it doubles or triples the effective range for a pistol round while also ringing out all the ballistics of say the 9mm or 45acp cartridge. So, if you can accurately shoot your Glock @ 15-25 yards, then it's very easy to match that at 50-75 yards with a carbine. So, for personal defense without the overkill/overpenetration of a rifle round, what could be better?

You may not get the double or triple the range you may think. Research has been done that shows a 16 inch barrel pistol caliber gives approximately 15 percent more energy than a 4 inch barrel with the same round. It does have a longer site radius which should help in accuracy but a longer barrel doesn't make it that much better over a handgun

To me it's an OK choice for HD, but if I can get to a larger weapon than my pistol. It's going to be a shotgun or the AR

I have shot my buddies HiPoint carbine and it was a hoot
