I am putting some cabinets over my reloading bench. I already put one in, but got to wondering how high the Classic Cast Turret from Lee was with the Auto Disk Pro powder measure on top of it. I fear that I may need to move the one cabinet up higher but would rather move one and mount the other than have to move both.

What is the height of the classic turret from benchtop to the top of the powder measure?

I don't have the press yet, I am looking to buy it in the next month or so. Being a rainy day I am going to set up the reloading area today.

Thanks in advance!

11" from base to top of pistol dies with a small funnel. I don't know about the pwdr measure.

If it was rifle dies and maybe 6" for the measure, that would get you about 18".

Nice basic turret press - can't go wrong for $70. I have mine on a "entertainment system" shelf!

The cabinet is only about 12" deep and the bench is 24" deep so I can fit the press on the front of the bench and have unlimited space above it...but opening the door on the cabinet could be an issue.

I am hearing 18" should give me enough clearance and it just so happens that I mounted my first cabinet at 18.5" high so I should have enough clearance to open the door.

Thanks for the responses.

Looking at the turret for price and my ammo needs are relatively modest (about 400 rounds a month) so a turret would be fine.

benedict certainly has a point about filling the powder merasure. all my stuff is on shelving with no doors and fastened to the wall. seems to work best for me. i dont have to open doors to find stuff. but..... thatsme

however you do it, avoid frustration. it is not good for reloading ammo

Yeah, the cabinet will be back far enough so I can load the powder.

Doors are necessary since I don't want to look at stuff all the time...it is a reloading/scrapbooking/guest bed room/any other hobbie room.

I hadn't heard that anyone offered a kit for the Classic Cast Turret Press yet. Wow, that IS a good deal! I wish they had this kit last Summer when I bought my Classic Cast Turret Press... and the rest of the stuff to go with it. :banghead:

" Wedge, I just wanted to let you know that Cabela's has the Lee Classic Turret in a kit now for $150. It comes with the L&S safety prime and Pro Auto Disk and the risar and scale. Man that's a good deal. I wish they had the kit when I bought mine.

Oh man, oh man, oh man - that's sooo tempting.

Wow, that is a great price and a Cabela's is only 25-30 miles from me. Very tempting. I have been loading on a single stage, and will continue to do so for any extra heavy loads but really want to speed up production on 9mm and eventually .223 (when I get a rifle in that caliber).

Cabela's should have one setup on display. I would at least go down and pull the handle. Most everybody I talk to can load 200 per hour and some 250. I have never loaded on a single stage but I would have to guess it is quite a bit faster.
