Round on the ends, HIGH in the middle.. oHIo
Well, I have a 696+ that I shot about 200 rounds of mixed .38s and .357s. I don't shoot it anymore so I thought I'd get rid of it. I got to looking, and there was that nasty little ring of lead in the cylinder. And a lot of buildup on the face of the cylinder. I tried all sorts of things to get that stuff off. Gun scrubber, hoppes elite, hoppes #9, BreakFree CLP, window cleaner, that blue wonder stuff... nothing would get rid of it. Well, I saw sometime on here that the Tipton Lead Remover cloths might work. So, I finally found some on saturday at a gunstore. So last night I sat down to begin working on the revolver.

Low and behold that stuff works! REALLY GOOD TOO! I was excited. I wrapped a long piece about 4in long around a toothbrush and began scrubbing away on the cylinder face. It took me about 10 minutes of good scrubbing to get rid of the crap on the face of the cylinder. But, it's clean now.

Then, I started on the chambers. I cut a square patch and wrapped it around a bronze brush. I scrubed it in and out of the chamber till it was black, and then flipped the patch over and did it some more. I still didn't get the chambers clean before i went to bed. I'll try some Hoppes #9 tonight, let that soak, then try it again.

But, I just wanted to share my experience.
