I once said I'd buy a dedicated upper or an M&P rather than one of these. But cdnn had a sale a while back and I couldn't say no to $150 for the stainless kit (with 2 mags).
I'd read that it might have trouble with my old Colt's original notched hammer.
It didn't. 4 mags through it, not one malfunction. Way fun.
Only trouble is it won't extract live/dud rounds. The design is such that the recoil is needed to blow the case rearward before the extractor can engage. Supposed to prevent slamfires or something. Meh. Apparently CMMG is working on a next-gen version that will extract live rounds. And they now make a bolt hold open converter that will allow the AR BH to work with this kit, if you swap the followers in their mags to a new type. FYI
But other than that, I really dig this. $.02 a shot compared to $.30+ a shot.
