My wife and I are looking for a rifle for this Christmas (yes, I'm lucky). I like the flexibility to change from the .22lr to a .223 upper down the road. It's $450 at CTD. What has everyone heard about this gun? I can only find info on the 22 uppers, not the entire firearm. It seems like it will be a fun starter rifle. Plus it has upgradability, due to the AR platform. So what are your thoughts?

Good price, last I checked CMMG's site they were asking $500 or $550.

I can only offer an opinion on the upper, mine's on a RRA lower. I absolutely love the upper though.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know!

I had a quick question, does the flat top rail line up with the short rail on the end of the hand guard? It would be nice to put some buis on there.

The gas block's rail is lower than the receiver's rail. You'll need a gas block height front BUIS, but they're pretty easy to find.

My buddy was going to give me an extra set of magpul buis. Would those melt if I got a gas block riser? Not sure what they say in the manual since i don't have them currently. Otherwise, I'll just get a metal one. Thanks for the info, ugaarguy.

You are good to go with the magpul BUIS as far as not melting. The .22 upper is blow-back operated and not gas operated so the gas block is there for looks. There is not even a gas tube attached to it;)

I'm the happy owner of a CMMG upper. Mine has ~5K rounds through it with no ill effects. It is accurate, reliable and fun to shoot.

I doubt it would melt, but I wasn't able to find a riser that brought the gas block rail up to receiver height. Everything I tried was a bit too tall. If you find something that is the correct height I'd really like to know.

If I was buying the MBUS's, then I'd agree. Thanks for the link, though. I may have to get that when I get a 556 upper.
