Hey guys theres a guy trying to sell me this 1911 in the picture, 3 mags, and 800 rds of pmc bronze. What would yall pay for this???

This is the first time to upload a picture, not sure if its gonna work!

Awesome job, technology and I don't get along, but that's the gun with mags... Can you tell how old it is?? And is it worth $700 (that's with the 800 rds)
 
If that's a reproduction then yes. If it's as old as I think it might be then yes for a collector piece.

My guess is either 90+ years old or less than 5 years old. Look for images of the Colt 1918 Replica and note the thumb safety size/shape, markings, small sights etc. Can't say from a blurry photo and I'm not an expert.
 
I have a hunch that it's a well used Remington Rand 3rd style slide on an aftermarket frame. Looks like an Essex if I'm not mistaken.. We need pics of the other side. If it is a parts gun the price is too high.
 
Oh, I didnt see that ammo was included. The ammo and the WWII small parts seem to make it a pretty fair offer even if it is an Essex (Nothing wrong with Essex mind you) The grips alone are worth at least 40 bucks.

Beware of the feed ramp, learn about them and check it out! And one of those mags is junk .
 
Ammo is worth $275 or so considering 1000 rounds of 45 ACP is $320.

The gun itself is a mix master. The grips and slide stop are clearly not original to the gun. Without more detailed pics it is impossible to say what it is worth.

IMHO it is not worth $700 closer to $600...
 
So if I got pix of the other side and the feed ramp would that help..?? Not gonna lie I'm a little upset now with this possible purchase.. :/
 
Don't be upset, if it is a properly working pistol it will make a fair shooter for a reasonable price considering all the ammo. Go ahead and post pics of the other side, the feed ramps as viewed through the ejection port (slide locked back, magazine removed) Might throw in a few pics of the pistol field stripped if it's not too much trouble.

If the frame ramp is ok, almost any other problem is fixable.
 
Maybe try contacting Essex Arms (essexarms.com), to see if they can give you any info as to the build date of the frame.
 
Essex is in the process of moving in with Iver Johnson... But they don't have any s/n records anyway come to find out!! How are you going to manufacture firearms slides and frames and not keep record???
 
I don't know their serial number history but by how the scallop cuts behind the trigger look, I'd guess the production dates to their first factory... Probably in the 80s or early 90s?.. Essex receivers have long been the "erector set" start point for many kitchen table tinkerers... They are how I got my start :)
I have never heard or experienced anything bad about the quality of the cast steel in an Essex frame. Their milling quality varies greatly, their production history is like a roller coaster...
The BIGGEST problems with them were created by those guys at the kitchen table. We all booger stuff up first time out.
