Colt Python Snub

I have a chance to purchase a Colt Python Snub 2.5" inch
in nickel from a collector i know thats local in my area.
This pristine revolver is (Circa 1974) It has box and papers to go with it.
The older gentleman that owns it said it hasnt been fired. It doesnt look like it but i just done know, it has a very light hint of a cylinder ring.
He would like to get $1900 for it and im just about ready to go get it.
what do you guys think on this price. The prices on Colt snubs are really climbing and i have seen some really big numbers at collector gun shows.
This is one beautiful revolver.

It was most probably fired at the factory.

If 2.5-inch Pythons aren't going for that price now, they will in the foreseeable future. If you buy the gun and take it to the range, try to be prepared to discover it's a sweet shooter.

Colt snubs are hot right now. $1900 is a good price for an unfired one in the box. I'd buy it.......Forget they cylinder ring business. People make a big deal out of nothing. That ring is something a revolver "just gets". Sure, I have seen guns without the ring. But, I have also seen NIB guns with the ring. I own more than one of them. New guns get factory test fired and inspected. Many of them got a ring before they ever left the factory.

I would buy it too. There is a cloth you can buy which is designed to remove the cylinder rings available in most gun stores.

He's not talking about he carbon rings on the front of the cylinder. He's talking about the drag line the bolt makes on the side of the cylinder when it's rotated.

The "turn Ring" is caused by the removal of the finish that happens when the cylinder rubs Against the cylinder lock bolt, so it can't be removed. Many outlets sell what is referred to as a led away cloth, these can be used to remove led fouling on the cylinder face of S/S revolvers. DO NOT USE ONE OF THESE ON A BLUED REVOLVER, as it will remove the finish.
