Theres more to the story than posted here.
I'll try to give a little more info.
Ronald Dupuis is 32 years old and has been employed by six different departments. Thats right. SIX! Something tells me that Dupuis doesn't have the best work ethics or that he really needs to consider a career change.
He has worked as Wayne county deputy, Southgate, Ecorse, Hamtramic, Inkster, and Highland Park police departments.
Of the six, four of them are what most would consider low income cities. In the past Hamtramic, Highland Park, Inkster and Ecorse have been strapped with financial issues. Hamtramic, at one point, went weeks without being able to pay its police and fire departmens.
Even garbage removal in these cities has become an issue more than once. Inkster, trying to save some coin, reduced garbage pick-up to once every two weeks! They also needed help from Wayne county Sheriffs Dept. as they were understaffed and underpaid.
To give a better idea of what these towns are like, part of Inkster is known as "Little Saigon" because of the constant gunfire after the sun goes down, Highland Park is sometimes refered to as "Harlem Park".
I'm not bashing these cities. I even lived in one of them for ten years. What I'm getting at is the fact that I don't believe there is much of a screening process in any of them. Probably easier to get on the force in one of those than his home city of Allen Park.
Who would want to be a cop in a city where the pay is low, crime is high, and you run the risk of the city government sticking an I.O.U. in your pay envelope instead of a check?
As for my opinion, Dupuis used a tool to inflict pain/injury to a co-worker/fellow police officer. I'd be no different if he used a "D" cell Mag light (same weapon used on Malice Green), night stick, pepper spray, or any other tool issued to police officers.
He needs to be stopped from ever being an LEO again. If he treats his own partner that way, imagine what he'd do to you if he pulled you over for a traffic violation and he just happened to be in a bad mood.
