Correct accessories for a Savage Arms Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I*?

Hello, all. I currently live overseas, but with the help of my grandfather I have been putting together a small collection of historic rifles over the last few years including an M1 Garand, an M1 Carbine, and an M1917 Enfield. The most recent addition is a Savage Arms Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I* marked "U.S. Property" for Lend-Lease.

I just have the rifle, complete, but no accessories. Are there any British military rifle buffs that can tell me what specific original accessories (sling, cleaning kit, ammo carrier, bayonet, etc.) would have been issued with that rifle? I'd also welcome suggestions of sources for affordable originals or quality reproductions of those accessories.

The #4mk1's being built for the British basically conformed to their standards. The Savage and Long Branch rifles were built to British specs, and aside from the bayonettes beings made by both Savage and Long Branch, the normal kit was dependent on the regiment requirments. Slings were mostly made in England, and having mixed parts on a Savage was normal. I have 4 Savages, and they have some non Savage parts. 2 of the 4 are all matching, with Long Branch parts, which is normal. LB and Savage traded parts through the war, and when Savage ended production in 1944, they transfered all their parts to Long Branch in Canada.

Sarco has accessories, but British kit is not high demand in the US.

I would start with a few brit cleaning accessories, these can be found on evil bay, sometimes at bargain prices if not in a bidding war.


Bayonet and scabbard with the Savage roll mark.


Most Savage rifles well have the flip peep backsight. There are ladder sights with the Savage roll mark.


The first 12-14K Savage rifles had the regular bolt release, round cocking piece and a ladder sight. Hard to find today but they are out their. I found this one as a sporter. I had to replace the cut down furniture but the rest was complete.
