Garry James has another side by side BP comparison in the Dec 2012 Guns & Ammo magazine.
This time his back drop is the Yellow Tavern fight and his opponenets are original COlt 1851 and original Remington NMA both apparently US service pieces.
Had issues with some of his history, had issues with ther use of felt wads, and really had issues with his not meantioning the availability of modern reproductions and doing any sort of comparisson there.
How hard would it have been to add a couple of repros to a picture with the originals and captioned that the pistols continue to have great popularity with modern shooters accessing affordable reproductions?
I usually look forward to his articles about old advissaries, but for what ever reason this one just did not blow my skirts up.
I would like to see Intermedia offer a cardback like "the book of the 1911" or "the book of the AR15" books they have out with collected Gary James BP pieces or offer a digital edition of all his BP articles.
ANyway thought you guys might want to know if you do not have a subscription.
As both a former book store clerk and former magazine editor though I must not encourage anyone to stand around the magazine racks of stores reading without buying.
