Just ordered a CZ 452 American in .22 lr
Any suggestions as to what accessories, ammo, etc. might work well with this rifle. Any ideas appreciated!

An excellent choice.

For general use, a sling that is comfortable to you with any of the quick detachable silng swivles. A scope of anywhere from 3X to 14X fixed or variable, my personal preference for a sporter scope is the Leupold 3-9X33 EFR. Wolf Match Extra has worked very well for me in this (and other) guns. For less money, Wolf Match Target. My American can actually shoot Fed Lighting very well (not as well as Wolf ME or any of the higher end ammo, though)

For serious target shooting, an adjustale sling that would work well for 3 position, e.g. the old canvas web or leather M1 and M14 slings. A scope of anywhere from 6X up to as high as you dare. My first pick is Sightron's SIII 6-24X50 MD. After that, any of Leupold's VXIII Long Range above 6X at the lower end of the magnification range. (I choose the Sightron over the Leupold strictly due to price.) Any of the higher end ammo. A good set of rests, the minimum being (for me) Caldwell's Dead Shot set.

DWH;

Been there, bought that. Mine's a left hand bolt though. I scoped it with a Nikon Monarch 3.3-10X A/O mil-dot & am very happy with it. The scope is in Talley rings, which put the glass in an ideal position for my cheek weld and eye placement.

I do a lot of hunting with my 452, a big reason why there's a mil-dot scope on it. The game is the Montana 'gopher', an extremely plentiful beastie. It's entirely possible to burn through a brick of .22lr in a day. Therefore, I've purchased 3 of the extremely expensive 10-round magazines. They run about $25.00 each here, but even so, I consider them to be worth it in the field.

I've equipped mine with 1.25" swivels and a Turner national match sling.

I'm always conducting ammo testing. Far as I'm concerned, I'll never find the best ammo for any .22, because hopefully the maker's are always improving it.

DWH,

Welcome to THR and to the 452 club. :D

I've got a 452 Style (stainless, synthetic).

It's only the 2nd .22LR I've ever owned - first was a Remington Nylon 66 in my youth - so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

But in general, I really like this gun. Very much a tack driver.

Only things I've added to mine are a sling and a scope.

Actually, I've moved the sling over to my 870 until I get a second one for the 452.
I'll buy a third one for my upcoming Marlin 336; yes, I like it that much.

Which sling? Clincher.

I also bought a scope for the 452, and a nice one, but it wasn't the right one for me. It was a centerfire scope, which is now for sale. It would be fine for longer shots, but mine are typically shorter.

So, as soon as I sell the original, I plan to buy a dedicated rimfire scope, almost certainly a Nikon Prostaff.

Believe it or not, I'm seriously thinking of shortening the barrel on this 452. :what:

Where I live and hunt, the cover is dense, dense, dense. It's nice to be able to trek through the undergrowth and not have the rifle (slung over my shoulder) not stick above my head. Besides, the thick growth insures short distance shots, so that barrel doesn't need to be long.

My Nylon 66 had a shorter barrel, and was just fine.

Like others have said, those 10 round mags are pretty nice to have. I really don't think you need much else. The trigger will get a bit smoother after a few thousand rounds. The 452 is a great gun, I knew nothing about CZs when I bought mine and was so impressed I now own a 75BD 9mm and a 527 .223, all are VERY good guns.

Forgot to mention, in any case or type of shooting to be done, an aftermarket fire control system helps with the creep of the trigger. As low cost as a Brooks (though it may or may not eliminate all of the creep) system to any of the fully adjustables like the Automation Solutions or Timney triggers.

I've installed the first versions of Timney's CZ452 triggers, both LR and Magnum, and have been extremely please with them. Have not tried their current version which has had some issues early on. The Auto Solutions triggers are also excellent. A bit of a chore to install but excellent none-the-less. (Installed my third one last night on a Trainer to be used for O-class CMP Sporter shoots.)
