CZ-75 P01 Serial number question

My CZ-75 P01 has a number imprinted on the right side of the frame just above the grip. It looks like it is laser inscribed instead of the method used to print the serial number. It doesn't match the serial at all.

It's in this format: NSN 1005-##-###-####

The salesman at the gun shop wasn't sure what it was either and I'm just curious.

Thats the NATO Stock Number.

My dealer copied that down as the serial. I didnt say anything!

Not good, not serial number, dealer is going to have to answer to BATFE for that one. Serial is further down same side, slide/frame, right on top ofeach other. If you like the guy, straighten him out before some eager beaver forward tracer gets him imprisoned for lying on a 4473. Or maybe, even you.

CZ made a initial run of the P-01's without the NATO numbers. After it was approved they all now carry it. Hell of a pistol!
