If anyone has an SP-01 with the "shelf" style safety, i.e.:

Is it easier to reach than the standard CZ safety? I have a 75B Omega and I love it, but the safety is simply too far forward for me to snick off reliably. Might try to sell or trade it towards an SP-01 with the shelf safety if the pivot point on that is further back than the standard safety.

Thanks.

I have the Omega and the 75 SA which has the shelf safety.

The shelf safety is slighly larger, ambi, and makes a nice place to put your thumb.

Personally I dont consider the shelf safety a "must have" on my CZ's

My problem is that I have short fingers, so going off safety requires me to either shift my grip on the gun or use my off hand to hit the safety (which feels awkward and takes more time to get indexed). I don't see a way to "fix" this (up to and including having someone machine some sort of custom safety lever for me; the pivot point will still be too far forward) so I'm hoping to try a shelf-safety CZ out or my next resort is to simply trade towards a BHP or 1911 or something. I'd like to stay with CZ if at all possible, so if the SP-01 (or 75 SA) will fit my needs, all the better...

If your fingers can't even reach the safety, how do they even reach the trigger? Your thumb must be a centimeter long!

Actually, I have trouble with the DA trigger on the normal 75B - the Omega version has a recurve trigger, which helps. I'm fine with 1911 safeties and the like; it's just that the CZ safety is 1) quite a bit further forward and 2) quite small compared to a 1911's. The shelf safety, besides having a pivot point closer to the rear of the gun, also has a bit more substance to it, e.g. it sticks out further.

you must have tiny hands....i am always insecure about my hands, and one time a delivery guy where i work asked me to help him grab something in a crevice because i "have small hands"

i just got my 75b out to look at how it fits my hands, and the only trouble i have with it is i have to slightly adjust my grip to release the slide stop lever

could u maybe post a pic or something...i sorta wanna see this

EDIT: also if you have small hands maybe u should look at the RAMI instead of a bigger gun such as the SP-01

I have the SPO1 with the standard safety, and formerly I had a CZ75 SA with the shelf-style. I prefer the standard, and had no trouble flipping either one up or down, though admittedly I have fairly large hands.

I like the regular safety just for its lower profile. I have an easier time with a high two-hand grip with this setup.
