I appreciate the information on my Glock 19 price post. The more I've been looking the more 9mm pistols I'm finding myself interested in. One of those is the CZ75 P01. Everything I read on the P01 is very positive as well as the 19 of course. Can anyone provide me with some pros/cons of each? The main purpose of this pistol will be for home defense and to teach my wife how to shoot. Eventually, I'd like to teach my two boys as well.

My preference would be for the Glock 19 because the CZs have too long of a reach to the trigger for me. Other than that, they seem like good guns.

I have both and love them both but they are very different in all respects. Glock 19 is a polymer so it's a tad lighter, thicker grip and the infamous Glock ergos which personally I don't have any issue with but some seem to. But it is a proven platform, extremely reliable, handles recoil well. The G19 that we have actually belongs to my wife (officially) - she shoots it very well and happens to prefer it to all the other pistols we have.
The P-01 is all metal but is not overly heavy - not as blocky as the G19 especially in the hand. Also very reliable and great with the 9mm round. Also it has great ergos and is also built on a very solid platform. It's a DA/SA and the DA pull is long, where the Glock has the same pull every time. P-01 has a decocker which cuts the DA pull in half, and the SA pull is very nice, but some don't like the DA/SA for that reason - learning 2 different pulls I guess.
So you can't go wring with either! If I had to choose 1 and only 1, I'd probably pick the Glock, but that's not to say I don't love my P-01.

I'm not a polymer fan, but the G19 has to be one of the best compact 9MM's out there. That being said I prefer the CZ-75D PCR for this role. Its similar to the P-01 without the light rail, so its a little slimmer and easier to carry/conceal. The P-01 is a great duty gun though.

Deanimator, I had the same complaint about the full size, but the P01 has a slightly more curved trigger, making it easier to reach.
But if I had it to do all over again, I'd have kept my G19.

I was debating between the P01 vs glock and ended up with the glock.
Easier to detail strip the glock.
No DA/SA transition
Glock is lighter
Glock is a simpler design
Glock is cheaper (around here)
There were others, but I can't remember them.
I'm thinking of getting an sp01 next.
