bought a DAO hammer assembly...dimensions (except for lack of hammer spur)
same as stock hammer....but for the sear....the sear on the DAO assembly is
much longer than the stock item. So long it will not drop in over trigger.
I could stone sear a bit and add a bevel on the outside, but is this all it will need? thanks.

Assuming you have the original hammer, why not use the original sear?

It used to be that when you bought a S&W hammer it was a drop in fit.

The few new ones I have fitted in the past 4 or 5 years have required shortening the sear.

You can follow Jim's good advice and swap sears but if you wanted to keep the old traditional hammer for later use you could just remove both sears and configure the new one just like the old one.

Second thought.

Is ths a true DAO hammer or just a bobbed one?
A real DAO hammer should have the single action notch removed so it cannot be manually cocked.
If so then a longer DA sear is used since there is no secondary sear for the trigger to act upon.

Which model is this for?

thanks...I'll just use the old sear as a template for the stoning of the new...
yes, like to keep the old hammer ready to reinstall...trying this bobbed dao system sort of experimentally...take care, have a great weekend.
