 Picked up my CBOB yesterday and took it to the range today with Keaner and donttellthewife. Boy am I upset! :fire: First round out of it and the second round is a FTF. Second round FTE. Third round slide locks back with another FTE. The slide is locked up solid and will not go into battery.

Hell, Keaners $400 RIA 1911 functioned better than this thing. I guess I'm going to find out just how good CZ's warranty and customer service is. :cuss::banghead:

I had some problems with mine for the first 200 rounds or so. I polished the feed ramp with crocus cloth and I would load one round at a time to get through it. I had many FTFs and FTEs. Once it was broken in, it worked like a charm.

My friend's CBOB had the ejector break off. They fixed it fairly quickly and sent it back. My DW PM7 in .45 ACP had problems with the hammer falling into half cock after a shot was fired. They fixed that fairly quickly and sent it back. What caliber is your CBOB? Mine is .45 ACP.

I also have a PM7 in 10mm. No problems at all with that one. They are excellent pistols, but they do require some significant breaking in.

I shot an new one out of the box yesterday without cleaning or lubing. Only shot 30 rounds, but no problems and great accuracy. Sorry to hear the bad luck:(

ccsteffler, mine is a .45. I dry fired it probably 50-60 times and cycled the slide by hand several times with no problems, although with a mag inserted, it was damn near impossible to disengage the slide release. I usually had to drop the magazine and then disengage.

I'm think that along with the usual break in issues there may have been a catastrophic failure of the barrel link pin. The slide went back so far that it forced the hammer all the way down into the grip safety and broke the hammer.

I'm hoping CZ's reputation for warranty service holds up. It is a beautiful pistol and I'm not ready to give up on it yet. BTW factory Federal American Eagle 230 gr hardball. All of the rest of them cycled through my SA loaded without a hitch.

You're right to hope that CZ-USA will treat you right with the whole issue.
Call them and get the excellent service in motion. You'll be glad you did. Sounds like a simple part failure, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that they might just send you a new one and take the old one back.

Thanks, wheelgunslinger. I hope you're right. The pistol is gorgeous. I think I was just a victim of a parts failure out of the gate. Actually, better that than putting several hundred rounds through it and then having it fail in a tactical situation.

How many rounds did you fire? DW pistols are generally built tighter than most factory pistols, so some break-in stoppages are not all that uncommon. I would suggest putting a few more rounds through it before sending it back to DW, and seeing if the pistol break itself in.

I was there when it locked up and until the factory gets it nothing else is going down that barrel. Not the best day at the range for Cougfan2. :banghead:

Well, just talked to Scott at Dan Wesson and he sounded shocked at what happened to my CBOB. Told me to send it in right away. If they just fix my pistol instead of sending me a new one I will request that they put at least a couple of magazines through it. I have never had anything like this happen with a new weapon.

Cougfan2, Sorry to hear this about your new CBOB. I only have about 150 rounds through my month or so old CBOB (.45ACP also) and had no problems whatsoever with it. All rounds have cycled flawlessly and have accurately hit on target (I'm using my CBOB with CM Powermags (great mags)). Unfortunately, I think you just happened to get a rare CBOB that slipped through the quality control process somehow. I'm sure DW will take really good care on fixing this problem completely and making sure you are happy with the pistol afterwards. I would ask them if they could throw in a spare mag or two for your troubles maybe (can't hurt to ask I suppose:D). It is a bummer that you have to ship the gun back to them and be without it for a while, especially since you just got it. Yep, I would defiantly ask that them to put three or four mags worth of rounds through the pistol when they are finished with it just to make sure. Try to keep yourself busy with some other firearms in the meantime to pass the time along while your CBOB is gone off to CZ-USA/DW.;)

Do ask for some freebies AND plenty of test firing before returning it to you, because unfortunately, YOU will be the one paying big bucks to overnight ship that brand new gun back to them in hopes that they will make it operate properly, as it should have from the get go! Dan Wesson needs to buck up and pay for warranty repair shipping like Colt, Springfield, Smith&Wesson, and others do. They make a nice gun when they are reliable, but the number of reports of jams/problems and warranty returns with DW 1911's seems really high compared to other brands. (Yes, I too had to ship my Razorback RZ-10 back to them for problems and I had to pay about $50 or so for the privilege. It still wasn't right after I got it back from them. Over the long haul it I spent quite a bit of money in shipping, test firing, tweaking, test firing, tweaking some more, test firing... you get the point. Expensive and frustrating. Yeah, it left a little bit of a bad taste in my wallet. ;-) I do hope it all goes better for you than it did for my RZ, without too much additional expense or frustration.
