I have a Dan Wesson 357 pistol kit in stainless steel with a 2 1/2 and 4,6,10 and 15. I also have the tool and the shim and the owners manual. I have had this gun since 1985 and am trying to find out what kind of value to put on this to sell. I have tried to research and have not found out much except for the 15 inch barrel which I can not find anywhere. the gun was made around 1979 or 1980. Any help to a new member would be appreciated. thanks Jim.

Condition is critical so pictures would help.

Do you have the full pistol pac with case it all came in?

Check Gunbroker and look for the Completed auctions under the advance search tab. Those will show you what things sold for and if they sold. That will help with the kit price, however, I am stumped also on the 15in barrel and how much that may drive up the kit price if it came that way.

Old listing on Armslist has one for $900;

This old listing shows a blue barrel sold for $500;

Seems a bit uncommon so pricing may be tough, especially with the kit included.

I have a older Monsoon made mini kit with 2,4 and 6" barrelas and two grips and the tools. I've turned down $1500. I'd think yours is worth $2000. IMHO and I'll bet I'm right.

An original Pistol Pack would have been 2-1/2, 4, 6, 8" barrel assemblies, in a "briefcase" with the barrel removal tool, possibly a belt buckle or embroidered patch, manual ...

10" and 15" would not have normally been in a Pistol Pack, they are pretty uncommon and are pretty desirable ($$$$) items.

Stainless would more likely be 1982 or so

There were some unusual 715 pistol pac configurations, but anything not origional to the pac is probably better sold on eBay. DW barrels go for a few bucks on ebay.

A pistol pac that's nearly complete - only missing keys or the patch or the buckle, but with all the barrels and shrouds and grips with the case numbered to the gun average between $1200 - $1500. More desirable configurations, or anything unusual will bring a few hundred more.

Pictures would help

Here is my Mini pac. The gun is like new, the picture was taken with lots of greasy preservative on the lustrious blue with finger prints. The DW Patch, Belt buckle and paperwork and feeler guage are underneath the bottom tray. Like I said somebody offered me $1500 for this little pack after I let them shoot the 6" barrel with it's Python esque trigger pull at 25 Yards . I did not take it as it may be the last .357 I eventually part with. Yes it is that nice and the Pythons are sold off along with the S&W 27s :cool:

As stated, the Pistol Pac had the 2", 4", 6" and 8" barrels. The 10" and 15" barrels were offered separately. The 15" barrel by itself effectively doubles the price of the original revolver because they are so rare. Your setup could go for as much as $2000 to $2500; especially since it's stainless. Most Pistol Pacs were blued.

They also had a 12"
I was just about to ask about that since I hadnt seen it mentioned previously.

Are they rare? Not the whole kit, just a 12" CTG barrel?
I happen to have one, and no pistol to put it on.
Im not itching to be rid of it (ya never can tell when it may find a use)
But i am curious as to its value.
Not a scratch on it, and I still have the box it came in.

It's my understanding that the 12" is even rarer than the 15" according to a local dealer. I take him at his word.
