Ramline makes a Monte Carlo stock. I think ATI might as well, but I wouldn't swear to it.
Dont know if they still make it now, but ATI DID make a pretty decen Monte Carlo stock for the sks. My dad had one on his Russian sks. When it becam mine, I eventually re-installed the original stock back on, just because the rufle and stock were 100% mint condition, and looked sweet, so it felt it was a shame to not have it all original again. I did shoot it for a while with the ATI stcok though, and did like it. It also had a replacement receiver cover with the scope mount screwed and welded on (VERY sturdy) when I got it, and the cover was REALLY tight fitting, and I had NO issues with zero at all, but most people report not having dood luck with them, so I may have lucked out with a good, tight fitting one. It was pretty darn accurate hugh, even with the cheap Leapers 4x scope on it.I was tempted to leave that on, but again, seemd a shame to not have it back to all original, so I sold the stock, and cover/scope/mount combo. Had it been a more common sks, I would have left it lke it was, most likely, but being an all matching, mint, 1954 Izzy, I could bring myself to do it.

I have "bubbafied" my hunting SKS. Mine is a Chi-Com carbine with a 16" bbl. Two of the best synthetic stocks IMO are Choate, and Butler Creek. I personally have the Butler Creek. I like the fuller grip area. Either can be had at a variety o f places, such as Sportmans Guide, Cabala's, and Midway.

I've never found a "good" top cover scope mount. Some are acceptable, but I've never found a good one. One of the main problems (for me) is that they are all "see through". I prefer a tighter cheek wield than the "see through mounts can provide. The main reason for "see thorough" is to get the front sight post out of the field of view. Personally that doesn't bother me.

I have a Triple K drill and tap mount on mine. Yes I had a pro mount it. Simply because I don't have a drill press. The Triple K comes with the tap and screws. Remember when you are drilling a firearm it's for keeps. It was worth $10.00 a hole not to have a large paper weight.

I've heard good things about the B square mount but I've never had one. It uses the top cover take down pin. There are also mounts the use the rear sight base and gas tube replacement mounts. They just didn't flip my switch.

The problems with most scopes (for me) is that, good ones, are usually to long to also allow for stripper clip use. I found a discontinued Simmons 1.5 to 5. It is under 10" long so it works just fine. I really like that little scope. I wish Simmons would bring them back. The only Mini scope I ever bought that was worth a flip was a straight 4X. Personally I think that is too much magnification for a brush gun.

I've never found a detachable mag that was reliable. I would stich with fixed 10 round. If your state requires no more than 5 rounds for hunting, then lood for or make a plastic plug for the bottom of the factory 10 round. Years ago you use to be able to buy them, but I haven't seen them lately.

I've also installed a ambidextrous safety, a wolf spring kit, and made sure my sear had a "positive engagement". Personally I like my "hunting" SKS. Of course I haven't meet a SKS I didn't like. :D I've taken several Deer with it and it stays at my back door, in case of varmints and such. ;)

As far as making it "look" better. People who dislike guns will dislike them no matter what they "look" like. So don't waste too much time on that. Look in the mirror, make that person happy, don't sweat the rest.

I hope this helps.
