After trying out my buddies Beretta 92, I made up my mind that I was going to pick one up. I also decided that I would trade in my Baby Eagle 9mm on one.

Well today I swung by my local dealer and they had a brand new in box M9 (Yes, M9) for $699. I was all set to go but then they offered me $250 for my Baby Eagle with Hogue Cocobolo grips. I have about $620 in that gun and I just couldn't let it go for that price. However, I know that the M9's are hard to come by, and I really like the Beretta quality (I have a 87 target .22 also). I have never sold any firearms online.

You're probably wondering why I just don't keep the BE and get the M9 also. I have decided that should only have one firearm per caliber (a decision also based on other financial goals). The wife also has a hand in this decision :uhoh:.

So, in your opinion, is a new M9 worth a Steel Baby Eagle 9mm + $450? You may think I am crazy, but I just wanted to see what people think. My Bday is around the corner so I am still contemplating.

Don't know your locale but my local Scheels sells the M9 AND the 92FS for $599 (each). The INOX is $699 and those are their regular prices. Did I mention they tend to be overpriced?

I think I spotted the M9 at Cabelas once for the same price, but I believe they only carry your choice of MD or Italian born flavors now.

As far as the Baby Potsteel goes I would advertise it locally or check a pawnbroker for a better price then dump it (no offense). I know it's a shame about the money but you don't seem too attached.

Either way don't sour an exciting acquisition with a painful trade. Maybe buy one online saving you $100 and have a garage sale to earn another $100. Now you're only $50 off, and your wife can shoot that eaglet???

Good luck, hope you hold out for what you want without feeling ripped off.

Thanks for the advice sir... Truth is I have really liked the BE, but the M9 seems like a lifetime friend :)

$100 sounds alot better then $450! I think I will try out Gunbroker and see what I can do.

FWIW, I picked up my Beretta 92 from a local gun shop for $350. It was a police trade-in and did show some frame wear but otherwise shot perfect. I refinished it in gunsmithing school and it looked great!

I hear you on that! Can't believe how many people gripe about it (seems like grip size and overall size are all they can come up with for detractors). It's on my short list of near future acquisitions along with a 1911, M&P 9Pro and HP.

So many firearms, so few free ones! Another place to check is Buds Gun Shop online $568 delivered (just checked). Get ready to sell some old junk, you may need the room soon!

Good luck in the hunt.
