Democrats for guns. (yeah right)

There's no such thing as a freedom loving Democrat anymore.
Even a dictator likes his freedom to do what he wants.
Witness Feinstein with an AK or her concealed carry gun or kerry with his shotgun.

In order to get rid of gun control, you have to get rid of the Democrats. It's that easy and everyone on this board should understand that.

I do, however, think that there is a change within the liberal base going on that is moving away from gun control. I don't think that the Democratic liberal base is as pro-gun control as we were soon after the Kennedy assassinations.

W4RMA, I think you are right in general, but the problem this year is that your candidate rushed in on Super Tuesday to vote for the AWB extension.

Not exactly a change in the message, though I'm sure it was a calculated move (i.e. the AWB is not really "gun control" somehow...)

I guess I finally have to make a tinfoil hat

because every time I go to post something on a topic like this, it seems Bartholomew and Sam have read my mind.

The current policy-makers in the Democratic Party (not the DNC, but the social group held in high esteem by the Faithful) are entrapped by a antiwar / pseudo-feminist / group-think mentality.

Here in MN, the DFL is dominated by the 'Progressive' thinkers--primarily women in their 50s, who came through the State College system (directly or indirectly)--and who learned political activity because of their antiwar and then feminist growth.

Tie that into the icon-ism of SCUBA Ted, Whinestein, the now-deceased Paul Wellstone ("for the little guy") and a few others, and you have the group-think that allows this political party to put forth extreme agendas that they can get their "locked-in" constituency (victims, 'minority' groups based on race, and Union Members) to vote for.

Because of the "logic" of that kind of thinking, they have ended up down the path so far that they are leading the party into immolation.

I suspect the immolation will be complete this year--or in four / eight years--IF the Republicans and GWB don't continue shooting themselves in the foot so they lose the election. But until this generation of leaders 'passes' the mantle to Gen X, or whoever, the Democratic Party will continue to unwind.
