i was told that the only difference between the remington 700 pss and the 700 sendero is the stock and the price is cheaper for the sendero. is this true can anybody verify this please?
Also, it appears the Sendero is only available in 7mm (Rem Mag, Ultra Mag, and SA Ultra Mag) and .300 (Win Mag, Rem Ultra Mag, and SA Rem Ultra Mag) whereas the 700P comes in .223, .308, and .300WM.
It's basically the same gun, just a different stock, and the Sendero is stainless while the PSS is parkerized. You should also check out these:
Remington VS
Basically the same as the PSS, but with a different synthetic stock and matte blued steel.
Remington VLS
Same as above, but with a laminated stock.
Make sure you try out the PSS before you buy it. Some people don't like the stock. I have one, and I like it. Also, the PSS and the LTR don't come with the J-locks on the bolt like the rest of the 700's. But, you're paying extra just because it's a 'tactical' rifle. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably get the LTR. It has a little trimmer stock, and has a 20" barrel. It would be handy in the woods.
Supposedly Remington has stopped putting Jlocks on their guns, so what you get will depend on if it comes right from the factory or if it sat in a warehouse for a year or more.
