I'm planning on trying the Dillon 1200b trimmer with size die for some high volume 223 on my lnl. I want to use a two pass method where I lube/ decap (RCBS lube die), size and trim with the first pass, then tumble to remove lube. Second pass will be with a universal decap ( just to clear flash hole) then powder, hornady seating die, and finally a lee factory crimp.

I have been loading pistol for abour a year now, but this is my first venture with rifle rounds. Will I need any additional sizing beyond what the dillon size die does at the trim station? Also, the hornady seating die says it includes a roll crimp. Is it possible to use the die to seat without having the roll crimp? I would prefer to use the lee factory crimp instead.

The Dillon trim die has no means of expending the neck. Unless it sizes just right (mine did not), you will need to run an expander through the neck. I used a Sinclair mandrel die.

Yes, you can use a seater die without crimping. Turn the die down until you feel the crimper touch the case mouth and back off a half-turn.

Not a fan of the FCD. Depending on what you are loading for what, a crimp may be unnecessary.

Good luck.
