I have an ERA double barrel .410 shotgun that I'm having some trouble with. The first barrel is fine, but the second barrel will fire only about half the time. It looks like the firing pin hole drilled into the receiver was not drilled properly. Instead of the firing pin hitting the center of the primer, it hits at low 7 o'clock, so I don't always get solid contact to the primer. Is there any way to fix this?

A good gunsmith can fix that. All he'd have to do is 'countersink' around the firing pin hole and install a block that has a new firing pin hole in the correct, center position. It may take some time and machining, but a similar problem has occured on other shotguns whereas the firiing pin would wander and end up enlarging the hole in the receiver. It may prove to be expensive, also.

Thanks !

Does anyone know of a good gunsmith in the Western NY area who is experienced with shotguns and would be able to handle this task?

Don't know what you consider western NY.
If you are real west, Gorenflo Gunsmithing at 18th and State in Erie Pa had a good double man.

Thanks Sam. That's only about 2 hours away, I may check him out.
