Recently made a trade with a fellow THR member for a CZ SP-01. At the time of the trade, I already owned one of these great guns, but the particular CZ SP-01 I traded for had been worked over by Teddy Jacobson. The work he did included:
-Complete Action Job
-Polish feed ramp + contour chamber
-Recrown barrel @ 45 degrees + polish bore
-Polished the breech face
-Jeweling of internal parts
-Contoured and polished trigger
Additionally, the gun had a wolff XP extractor spring and wolff 14lb. recoil spring installed. I replaced the hammer spring with a 17lb. wolff spring as well.
Took her to the range today and put 150 rounds of various ammo (WWB 115g JHP, Monarch Brass 115g FMJ, CCI Blazer FMJ) with no problems. The gun is just as accurate (if not more) than my previous SP-01, and of course has the same great features as any SP-01...extremely soft recoil, superb accuracy, excellent ergonomics. But the custom work DEFINITELY was noticed. The action job really made the trigger pull crisp and break cleanly. According to the work invoice the pull was reduced from 12 to 9lbs DA, and from 6.25 to 4.5 lbs SA. Since I replaced the hammer spring those numbers might have changed a bit, but regardless, the trigger is superb.
I also got as a part of the trade, a CZ Kadet Kit. Fits the SP-01 quite nicely (a tad tight, but nothing unbearable at all.) WOW! What fun this little .22 conversion is! I've only fired .22LR from long guns, never a hand gun. It was a very very enjoyable experience. I'm definitely taking the Kadet with me to each range trip from now on. I reccommend every CZ owner get their hands on one if they can. for less than 10 bucks you can put 500+ rounds downrange! That's my idea of a fun afternoon.
Hope you enjoyed this report!
