Is there an entry level Double Rifle , with out paying $10k for one. I thought it would be cool to hunt dear with one this year . I seen a Valmet 412 Over/Under Double Rifle in 30-06 on gun broker for $1500 . But I know nothing about them . I don't need a 500 NE or anything like that . A 30/06 or 308 would be great .

There are several over/under doubles available at very reasonable prices. For side by sides, about the cheapest is the Pedersoli Kodiak IV which is still over $4000.

Baikal is probably the cheapest, with examples going for under $700. Valmets are nicer but run double that and up.

Back in the late 1970s or early 1980s Browning was dropping the O/U
Superposed and continuing with the O/U Citori which
was cheaper and easier to produce. Browning came out with a
special Superposed offering with O/U shotgun (I don't recall if
this was 12 ga or 20 ga ) but it also had an O/U set of barrels in
.30-06 for $ 5000 in a boxed case of course.

Also, on double rifles

* the barrels are usually set up so that both barrels shoot to the same point of aim (POA) at a certain range many times this range would be 100 yards

* some say the quickest follow up shot in any action is the double rifle. your secoond shot may vary....

I'm going to get a side by side coach gun and run 45/70 chamber inserts. Total should be about 600-800ish, maybe less.
