Hey fellow hunters.

I am just seeing if I can get any input on the public hunting lands out here.
I live in the Tyler area and do my deer hunting in menard on my grandads lease but am looking for some other hunting to do around here in the "off-season".

I know there is some land on the Sabine north of here, anyone been/hunted/fished/camped there? Or any public land out here?

Any advice is appreciated!!

Zach

Lots of hogs in the Sabine WMA from what I hear. I really like the White Oak Creek WMA around Naples.

I lived in Tyler up to 2005 and my girl friends relatives live up NE around the Naples, Linden, Atlanta area. I'm not much of a hunter but her relatives are and they always had a lot of deer and hog problems. I'm living near Huntsville now and not quite sure of hunting laws in public forests but they're are alot of deer down in this area. I saw a guy get out of his truck with his bow and just walk into a no fence forested area. The way things are going with the economy, I may just have to get my hunting skills up to par(I definitley have the weapons). You sure wouldn't starve to death in East Texas with all the good fishing and wildlife around. Better know the laws though, cause the Game Wardens do not play around. A lot of poaching goes on around where I live now. As far as feral hogs they're a problem everywhere in Texas!

Here is a link to the Texas WMA's,

Texas Wildlife Management Areas

Check out Old Sabine Bottom, it looks to be the closest. I also know that Gus Engeling and the Richland Chambers are both within an hour or so of you, if you head across on 30 towards Athens. I can get to them both from Palestine in about 45 minutes. Might also check out Caddo Lake

There might also be some NTL forest land closer but I am not all that familiar with the area.

Hope this helps
