Elderly Ala. man kills robber in his home
Associated Press

BREWTON, Ala. (AP) - Police say an elderly man shot and killed a
masked robber who broke into his Escambia County home.
Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith says the man and his wife
were in bed early Tuesday morning when the suspect kicked in the
door of their home. Smith says the 81-year-old man got his pistol
from the bedside table and shot 35-year-old Jeremy Paul McCall in
the head.
Smith says McCall had been released from a Nebraska jail two
days before he was killed. It was not immediately clear why he was
in jail.
Smith says he doesn’t believe charges will be brought against
the elderly man, who he declined to identify. The sheriff says the
man “acted in self-defense.“ ;)

Well, at least

the old man is a good shot to hit the guy in the head!

Just got released from jail, two days prior, eh?

I'm not too sure of this system of "rehabilitation" of hardened criminals. Jails should be the worst of the worst buildings, they should NOT be like spending every night in the Hilton.

I know of a Christian, who, before he was saved, he was convicted of something drug-related in another country. He was thrown (quite literally - tossed) down into a lower dungeon, where there was water leaking, it was cold, there were rats and mice crawling about, all over the place, no light at all, and every day they would open the upper hatch and toss down some bread and a cup of water. :uhoh:

He developed double pneumonia (both lungs) and, after six months, he was so emaciated that he nearly died. His pants he wore when he went in to jail would not fit when he came out, without tying a rope around the waist as he had lost 65 pounds.:what:

Did he ever commit a crime again?
NO!

He did pray and became a Christian while he was in jail.

This illustrates that, if jail were not a comfortable place to be, then it might be more like...........well..........JAIL!

When I was a child, I had heard that "in JAIL, you get a piece of bread and a cup of water every day and that is it!" Those times are sure behind us with jailbirds having full excercising gyms, TV, Internet, you name it!

He probably wouldn't be supported in prison for long though; the politicians would do the taxpayers a favor and let him out on parole early *rolls eyes*

Other than a gun being used though, how was this news story gun related?

He should have stayed in Nebraksa instead of picking on an old Bama man.

Good job.

The possibility of being shot by a home owner deters criminals more than anything else going.

THR is not a clearing house for any and all news items regarding guns. Unless there is something specific to discuss this thread is off topic. There is no sense wasting bandwidth with a lot of "give the old man a medal" comments.
