Well i just moved form NJ to Orange County NY.

I hve my FPID in jersey and own a 1911 colt rail gun. Long story short, I know NO ONE in Orange County, NY. OC NY requires three OC residents to sign off on the pistol permit application before I can even bring my pitol into the state.

Ive been scouring local clubs but they dont have public days and the membership fees are close to $1000.

Anyone in the area want to get togeather for some range days, meet the fam help me out?

I'm a good guy, just trying to play by the rules.

Orange county requires the permit app to be signed infront of a notary and the person has the be a OC resident.

My arsenal:

1945 mosin
Colt Railgun
Mossberg 500 persuader 12 gauge
Marlin 795 .22

Yup. You know what the permit clerk is going to tell you?

"Wait a few years and get to know people, then apply for a permit"

The only advice I can give is to not tell the permit clerk that you own a pistol, even if it really is out of state.

Well you dont need to apply for a permit for anything else down here..my long guns are already in state

If I still lived there, I'd be your friend. Moved out of Monroe 13 years ago (could not possibly afford the taxes anymore) and came down to FL. (Take a guess as to when I bought my first handgun...?)

Back in the 80's I attempted to apply for a "handgun permit" but was told not to bother. Unless I was a business owner in a "high risk" area, I probably wouldn't get approved. When I asked why, I was told this: "Oh...well, if it goes thru Judge "so-and-so," your chances aren't good at all because he won't approve it if he's in a foul mood...and, sometimes he just don't feel like it."

Good luck in finding a club and/or friend.
