SIDBAR: Before I ruffle anyone's feathers - I don't think that all pickup truck drivers are idiots. Most my friends drive them, I even have one. But it does seem to me (here in MN at least) that an overwhelming percentage of idiot drivers are in pickups.

I think that maybe some folks believe that the ability to carry a full, uncut sheet of plywood gives them special dispensation on the road.

Anyway ------------------------------

Favorite driving trick #1:

I leave for work early in the morning when there is very little traffic on the road, and take the freeway. Using my cruise control, I'll dial in something between the speed limit, and maybe five over, taking the right hand lane.

This morning (and many others) I'll notice a pair of headlights a mile or so behind me. I'll see them closing rapidly - probably doing 15-20mph faster than I am. Then when they get up to me, the guy comes up to within about 1/4 car length behind me and hangs there (I was doing 75, btw). After a couple miles, he jinks wildly to the left lane (that never had anyone in it in the first place), blows by me in his plywood carrying daily driver, then jinks back into my lane angrily. ***?

Favorite driving trick #2:

I was getting off of a north bound freeway and onto a west bound on a cloverleaf. While trying to come up to speed to merge with what cars there are on the freeway itself the pickup on the road floors it to go around me while I'm still on the ramp. Then the a$$hammer jams his pick-em-up onto the ramp in front of me and slams on his brakes so he can make the 30mph ramp that's 20' in front of him, leaving me to merge onto the freeway from a virtual dead stop with no merging lane in front of me.
