There is some mighty fine handguns mentioned here!!

Mountaingunner: I have a Para LDA Companion and the trigger seems smoother and nicer too me than the Glocks I have fired. I have heard of alot of reliability challenges with the double stack Para mags though, though IF they worked the Tac Four sounds like a great piece, at least in theory!
The BHP, CZ-75, Sig Sauer pistols are classic's. The Glocks, USP, HD/XD's are quite workable too. I guess it depends on what fits your hand and wallet.
But I think I'll stick with my single stack 1911's...reliable, thin, easy to maintain, familiarity and power. I am putting my 'lotsa bullets' concept money into a Bulgarian SLR-95 project.
The double stack .45's that seem to work are the Glock 21 and the USP and I suppose I'd chose the USP over the Glock just for grip angle and C&L carry if I had to pick one(though a G21 with Robarized grip would be VERY nice!). The CZ-97 appears quite large but I have never handled one. I'd be interested in working out with a STI/SV sometime.

Anyone that follows my posts will know that I'm going to say CZ75b. But I had to say it anyway.

Lots of other great choices from Glock, SIG, HK, Para etc. But for me the 75 is my baby. You know I should shoot it tonight but I have to learn how to be a birthing coach.

Sig 228

Everyone has heard the comment that a gun "melts in your hand when you pick it up."

Well it was pure sex when I first handled my 228. I didn't know a weapon could feel so good in the hand.

I liken it more to a religious epiphany than any melting, ergonomics or such nonsense.
