Is there any kind of built in mechanism for trading firearms through an FFL that makes sure both parties get their firearm?

Lets say I want to trade with someone so I ship out to his local FFL, can he only get the gun after he has shipped mine out through the same person, how does that work?

Thanks.

I believe you would have to get a FFL that was willing to act as an Escrow Agent. (They probably would charge for the service.)

The only way to tell is to call your specific dealer and ask (as well as the other trader's specific dealer). I'd be happy to do it for a repeat customer or if the money was right.

The FFL is there to do the paperwork for the background check, not to mediate a business deal.

While this is certainly true for the general transfer price, I'd bet many dealers would facilitate a deal for more money.
