I own two NEOS pistols and a third that is permanently mounted on the carbine kit,,,
The only complaint I have ever had about these fine handguns,,,
Is their crappy/clumsy/dark front sight blade.

The Carbine barrel has a very nice red fiber optic front sight,,,
But the black plastic thing on the pistols is terrible.

I ordered a Red fiber optic front sight blade for my Beretta NEOS,,,
It is from EWKarms and was priced at $26.99.

I placed the order on the 13th and received the sight on the 19th,,,
It is exactly what I had hoped it would be.

I had a bit of trouble getting the 1.5mm screw out of the sight rail,,,
I thought I had stripped the head of the Allen screw,,,
Turns out I stripped the cheap Allen wrench.

I found a better Allen wrench and it came right out,,,
The new sight blade dropped right into the existing slot,,,
All in all, once I found a good wrench, the swap took maybe six minutes.

The color in the picture is very orange,,,
I think the direct flash did that,,,
It's actually bright red.

I haven't taken it outside as yet,,,
In my office the light pipe is nice and bright.

In another forum we were discussing the advantages of one color over another,,,
Since there didn't seem to be any consensus of the better color,,,
I eventually flipped a coin to decide on red over green,,,
I'll try and get to the range this weekend,,,
But the weather looks a bit grim. :(

The only complaint I had about my NEOS pistols was that gawsh-awful front sight,,,
Perhaps now my aging eyes will be able to better utilize these fine fieryarms.

Have you tried a red dot optic? The fiber optic will help you find it, but it stops helping once you get old enough that focusing on the front sight becomes a memory.

Hello Wally,,,

Have you tried a red dot optic?

Yes I have,,,
As well as the reflex optics.

They do help me somewhat,,,
But I really want to keep using open sights if I can,,,
Holding the pistol low to see through the optics ruins the balance of the gun.

It's not that I have trouble focusing on the original sight,,,
It's just that the wide black plastic sight blade,,,
Disappeared against any target I used.

I have high hopes for this new blade,,,
I'll try it this weekend,,,
Cold weather or not.

I find the tube type sit lower and thus work better for me.

I understand the fight against the inevitable, I still fire some percentage of my practice rounds with iron sighted pistols.

I liked it so much after I got it mounted,,,

I liked the red one so much after I got it mounted,,,
That I ordered a second one in green for my second NEOS pistol.

I sat in my living room last night dry firing at my cats and the TV,,,
Even when I dimmed the lights to almost nothing,,,
The red sight was still somewhat visible.

The real proof will be in the shooting,,,
Unless it's raining I'm going to the range this weekend,,,
I think my 4.5" Beretta is going to be my new faux rimfire steel challenge gun.

Now I have to see if anyone makes fiber optics,,,
For my brace of Ruger 22/45 pistols.

But that's where I will stop,,,
No fiber optics for any of my S&W revolvers,,,
There are some lines that even I will not dare to cross. ;)

Wide variety here, try Dawson Precision, Midway or Brownell's for starters.

Nice! I like my Neos too except for the front sight. I was thinking about getting a cheap red dot to mount.

Hello decoy562,,,

I was thinking about getting a cheap red dot to mount.

Nothing wrong with that,,,
Except it changes that fine balance the NEOS pistols have.

I tried an inexpensive red dot from BSA,,,
I also tried a friends incredibly expensive red dot.

They both worked with expensive one having a finer dot,,,
But the balance of the handgun went to pot.

Having been the red dot and reflex route,,,
I think I'll be happier with the plain Jane fiber optic.

My NEOS just jumped in my hand when I removed the reflex,,,
It went back to being the pistol I liked at the gun store.

I found the rail on the Neos let me fine tune the balance by positioning the red dot -- a lot more options than I get with the Rugers.

I put it a bit forward so the extra weight works against recoil (or helps with recovery depending on your point of view). On a good day at the plate rack I can feel a bit like Jerry Miculek hitting the 4th plate while the previous three haven't quite finished falling :)

(they are slow to fall, basically being setup for centerfire, hits in the lower 2/3rds won't usually drop them withi a .22lr)

Hello again wally,,,

I've seen many competitors mount the reflex sights towards the front of the barrel,,,
Since I am changing the front sight configuration on my two 4.5" barrels,,,
I think I will move the reflex optic that's on my 6" barrel,,,
Give it a try more towards the front just to see.

It's a good thing I haven't completed the fitted case I am making for them.

I think the final configuration will be 2 frames with 4.5" barrels and fiber optic sight blade,,,
The Carbine kit mounted on my third frame with a standard scope on it,,,
And the 6" barrel by itself with the reflex sight that's on it now.

I think I'll be happier with two pistols in the same configuration,,,
That way when I take a friend to the shooting range,,,
We will both be shooting the same type of gun.

That should stop the whining about one gun being more accurate than the other.

I wish we had a steel plate rack at my range,,,
I am playing with the Rimfire Steel Challenge stages.

I've created some faux targets using PVC Pipe in a bucket of concrete,,,
And plywood target frames that hold paper plates.

Not ideal but good enough for playing around.
