First Handloads (kinda)

Went out to the range to test my first batch of pistol loads. I shot six each of three different powder charges to start with. After the checking the first round for pressure signs, and checking the final round in the cylinder I found the crimp was not enough for the .44 mag recoil. Other than that, every thing went great. I have loaded shot shells before and had a Lee handloader that I used one time, but this is the first go round with a press. I have a habit with new hobbies of jumping in with both feet, so for my first press I got the Hornady L-N-L AP. There is a lot happening at once, and the going is slow at first to keep every thing straight. Any body loading 600 rounds an hour has me impressed. One other thing, shudda done this earlier.

I just started myself, using a Lee Hand Press. You're right, lots of stuff to keep track of...and they don't call it the Thigh Master for nothing.

I beat you both. I started with a Lyman Tru Line Jr press with those skinny 310 dies made for the Lyman Tong tool. I didn't know that reloading could be really fun until my brother bought me a new Bair press and real dies for Christmas in the late 60's. Now let me tell tell about my first carbide die.....!

Yes, work that Hand Press between your knees and you'll get buns of steel.
