I took my new Springfield Armory 1911 to the range for the first time today. I bought the black stainless model in the combat configuration. This was my first time shooting a 1911 and all I can say is WOW! Why did I wait this long before getting one of these things?!?
I really couldn't believe how easy it was to shoot accurately with this gun. I have owned a CZ 85 and a G19 so I do have a bit of experience with semi's, but never with a .45. I was expecting the recoil to be significant, but it wasn't. This gun kicks like a kitten in a paper bag! In my opinion, the G19 had more felt recoil than the 1911. I was truely amazed at how great this gun is.
For the longest time I never understood people's obsession with 1911's. I always thought most of the supporters where "old guys" who haven't come to grips with the fact that their gun of choice was outdated. Man was I wrong! I have owned a few guns and shot a lot more and the 1911 is by far the most incredible thing I have ever shot.
The pointability and shootability of this gun was amazing! All I had to do was extend my arms and the gun almost aimed itself. I just can't get over how fun this thing was to shoot. As much as I loved the CZ and Glock, there really is no comparison IMO.
100 rounds today, another 100 in a day or two I'm sure. I just wish I would have listened to some of you fellas sooner and grabbed one of these amazing guns!
Anyway, I don't know if anyone cares at all, but I figured I'd share my experience.
