Five Arizona Teens in Alleged School Shooting Plot

PHOENIX (Reuters) - Five students who were allegedly planning a Columbine-style "massacre" at their high school were arrested on Wednesday after school officials police found a chilling note detailing the plot, police said.
Four girls and one boy, all students at Gilbert High School, were taken into custody on suspicion of making threats, Gilbert police Lt. Ken Fixel said.
Fixel said the students, who range in age from 14 to 16, were questioned because of the note, which was seized when school officials were questioning one of them on an unrelated disciplinary matter.
They were being held in a juvenile detention facility pending charges in the matter.
According to police the note said, in part: "This will be the last thing you ever do and you have to be willing to shoot people, people you know, so tell me now if you want out because there won't be any chickening out on the day of the massacre."
The note, allegedly written by a 15-year-old girl, also said: "I want this to be a total surprise! Completely out of the blue! Oh, I can't wait to see all that blood! Can't you see the headlines? 'School Dies! 'Dozens Killed, Blood Everywhere!' Weeeee!"
According to police some of the students involved provided reasons for the planned shooting rampage, citing a hatred for Catholics and Mormons, and revenge against those who had wronged them.
Fixel said a search of the girl's home did not turn up any guns but found a shredded map that allegedly outlined the plot.
On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, went on a shooting rampage at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., killing a teacher and 12 students and wounding 24 others before committing suicide.
