Flawless first outing: Kahr PM9

I put 200 rounds of WWB and ~40 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P through my new PM9 yesterday. This was a NIB gun I got from Bud's with an IA-prefix serial number.

There are plenty of reports of PM9s not working right out of the box. I took the time to clean and relube mine before firing. Recoil is lively but manageable, and the trigger, while long, is as smooth as everyone says.

IA prefix

that is the latest serial # prefix out, so any in house mod changes, your PM9 has it. Great gun, glad it did what it is suppsoed to do. Keep the slide rails greased and it will not let you down. the trigger will even get smoother with more rounds down range. In the mean time use the slide lock lever to load that first round until the gun is good and broken in, then try sling shotting it. I have no issue sling shotting mine but the manual recommends using the slide release lever--so do it. Great gun. My POS PM9 has 14,600 rounds through it without one malfunction, whatta think, maybe should peddle it an get a good gun--huh

porterdog, You just don't see all the "negative" reports on the PM9 like you did a year or so back. IMO kahr has the bugs all taken care of and they from most all reports are running great, as is their cw9 series also, again polymer framed. Sometimes you read a negative report on a gun be it a karh, glock sig, ruger and hell the same guy is posting it on every gun forum, so it seems like alot but in essense not.
Not that you cannot have an issue with your kahr, indeed that will happen. Kahr will take care of you. Seems yours is perfect out of the box, now just shoot it like you stole it...

Glad to hear that porterdog. I believe Jocko as far as the bad Kahrs. Only a few out there. I was one of the unlucky guys and yes, I posted my problems. Kahr replaced the barrel, extractor and spring plus some polishing and had it back to me less than a week after I sent it. That's great service! I'm hoping to get to the range this week to test it again and I'm optimistic. I had 386 rounds through it and the action still felt wrong but not it's like a different pistol. I'm betting they got it right and I'll be praising a great little carry piece.

All the reports I see are re-hashes of several-year-old posts.

I own an early PM9 and had trouble with barrel peening. Kahr fixed it quickly and correctly, and it has been my every day carry for three years now.

Don't know how many trouble-free rounds I have through it, but I'd buy another in a heartbeat and have no reservations about recommending the PM9.

Why is the PM9, $250 more than the CW 9?

The CW is manufactured in less expensive ways; it's got different rifling, the sights are installed differently in a way that makes night sight installation impossible, it only comes with one mag, and the slide is marked and machined differently.

Couldn't tell you if it makes much difference; people do seem to like their CWs though.

the cw series is kahrs best selling models. Priced to own for sure. They have all the same internals as the k and PM series. The best trigger system around. super smooth. If you intend to ever change sites, you don't want the cw series. They cannot change the front site. Polygonal rifled barrel over standard rifle barrels, a debatable thing but still a nice feature on the PM models and K models. Certaintly takes nothing away from the cw series though. I don't own the cw series and own the PM9 as I wanted the smallest kahr I could get and the litest also. have to agree with anohter poster here, that most of the negatvies was on kahrs over 2 years old. they had some barrel peening issue on somne models but also stepped up tothe plate and took care of people ..
