Folks,

I am about to embark on a great adventure. OK, I'm looking for CCW training in North East Florida. There are at least 3 standing classes on a regular basis, two held at local indoor ranges, one at a Police Union Range about 75 miles away. Prices are about the same as the last course I took in Clevealand, OH, $45 to $55, bring your own pistol and ammo, or rent. I can't find out what lesson plans the instructors use, the State is a little vague on the content.

What I would like to see is a class with emphasis on Florida Legalities, and a collection of holsters I could try and get judged for the concealability of the weapon on my well padded body.

After 40+ years of shooting and some military experience and some reloading, I think I know the components of a round and the difference between a Semi-auto and revolver.

Who knows he could skip the FL training requirement with his DD214, and other certificates, but I want fresh training.

Why not use your DD214 for the CCW, and then find some other training to meet your experience level and needs. As for trying out holsters, possibly you could try some out at your local dealer. As another "well padded" (6'3", 295 lbs.) CCW holder, I can tell you that IWB holsters from Rafter S and AKJ Concealco work well for me. Just make sure to get a good gun belt.
