I have some FNM 7.62x51 ball ammo for my 308 rifle. Can anyone tell me if it is boxer or berdan primed? The headstamp is FNM 82-24 with a cross in a circle. Thanks.
If I can't tell by shining a light in the case and looking, I'll generally sacrifice a piece of brass. A pipe cutter used 3/4 of the way down the body of the case makes quick work of it. If I didn't have a pipe cutter handy, I have in the past resorted to using tin snips to cut open a piece of brass, but its not the easy way.
I'll confirm by cutting one of the cases. Fortunately, I have about 200 cases of .308 that are boxer primed. Came across a process to convert berdan primed stuff to boxer so they will accept SR primers. Nothing to lose by trying it at some point. Might make a good lousy weather project.
