Foam for custom gun case. Where do I get it?

I am looking for the grey, spongy foam that comes in gun cases. I want to make my own case out of a guitar case or breifcase but I can't find that foam anywhere. I'd prefer it to be smooth and both sides without the egg crate. I want to be able to make cut-outs for my guns. Thanks, Tyler

Maybe a camera shop?

Since a lot of high-end camera shops sell the Pelican cases and the replacement foam, they might also have a handle on non-case-specific foam.

That's a good idea. I'll try a camera place tomorrow. Thanks. I see pictures on this site all the time of people who have custom cutouts for their cases and i'm trying to replicate that on a college student budget. Tyler

the above site are instruction on making a carrying case for an ar15 (from Maryland AR15 Shooters). in the middle of the page is a list of sites that sell foam. i have not tried any of them, but might could give them a try.
