I own an Erma/Iver Johnson 22 "M1 carbine" that is missing the rear sight(very common for this rifle). Replacement rear sights and screws are hard to find. The reciever is dovetailed to accept a standard 22 scope mount. I was wondering how much it would cost to take an actual M1 carbine rear sight(flip or adjustable) and machine the base so it would fit the reciever and add a set screw to hold it in place. TIA !

now that I think about it....

Actually an adapter base would probably work, too.

I'd have to do some measuring and cyphering, but I would be very surprised if you wouldn't need a new front sight to match the height of the rear one after you got done making one out of a GI sight.

Odds are very slim it would end up being the right height for the existing front sight.
