Glock 20 Tinkering

I just ordered a new Glock 20. I've been eyeing one of these for awhile and finally bit the bullet. I'll be using it mostly as a hiking companion in Washington. It seems like there are tons of easy upgrades or enhancements people do for their Glocks. I love tinkering with my 10/22 so I was thinking I'd start messingwith the Glock when I get it. Could anybody recommend to me some of the good upgrades you'd suggest for it? Any ideas would be great, thanks!

I added bullets to each of mine after the purchase and left it at that. Why fix something that isn't broken?

3.5# connector and perhaps a 6" after market barrel [more chamber support and you can shoot lead bullets as well].

+1 on the connector and aftermarket barrel.

Not sure if you have much coyote problem where you hike, but the 9X25 is very flat shooting round and Lone Wolf makes a drop in barrel for the G20.

If you're not a handloader, get the KKM .40s&w conversion barrel.

I had one for my G-20 and it worked very well, made for one accurate and soft shooting .40. Cheaper practice too. Standard magazine and recoil spring work perfectly.

I had a tungsten guide rod and 20 pound springs, that seemed to reduce recoil a little.

Heinie sights were the best thing I added, immediate improvement in accuracy.

Thanks for the good ideas, of course ammo is the number one concern, and of course it ain't broken. But you can sure improve what isn't broken.

So can you not shoot lead bullets out of the stock barrel? I was planning on getting some Doubletap Ammo hardcasts to carry out in the woods.

Don't tinker with it too much. The only upgrades I put on my G20 were adding night sights, and a stainless steel guide rod (using the stock spring). It works perfectly with all ammo choices right now. Get some DoubleTap loads for the woods... 200g FMJ-FP and 200g Controlled Expansion intermingled is my choice.

You can also add a Lone Wolf conversion barrel to shoot cheaper 40's at the range. For defense, the stock barrel is the only way to go. IMO

So can you not shoot lead bullets out of the stock barrel?

I wouldn't do it out of any polygonal barrel. The Lone Wolf barrels are conventional.

OK, I was being a little facetious. I've made small changes to my own handguns to make them more suitable for my own use, e.g., the thin grips on my CZ or night sights on my Glock (which I would also like to do to the CZ). But when making changes, make an honest assessment of what you will be using it for, and in what areas it is truly deficient or unsuitable. Don't do anything that will decrease its reliability.

That is the best suggestion yet. I don't consider night sights a real change. I order many of my Glocks with them. Heck, I'd take it out and shoot it to determine if the gun does what you need it to do or if any changes are needed.
