Pictures show comparison of height, width, length.
Glock 22 is close in height & length.
Glock 23 is shorter in height & length.

Magazine capacity is 15 rounds (Glock 22) or 13 rounds (Glock 23) compared to 7 or 8 rounds (depending on 1911 magazine)

Trying to start a caliber war? :neener:

I won't play; all three are good guns, both calibers work fine. In fairness, I don't own any .40's, but only because I don't need to stock and load another caliber. ;)

A good .45 1911 will likely last longer. None of them would be my first choice.

I like Glock but I don't really care for 40 S&W (even though I have a gen 2 23). I would sooner carry my compact Kimber, and I can take or leave a 1911.

Though you make a pretty good point; I'm not a glock guy. I'm not even 100% sure why, but I can't get into them. Maybe it's the grip angle, or it could be that style of trigger.
I appreciate the engineering, but it's not for me.

I definitely appreciate the 1911 far more, aesthetically and mechanically. The thing I never cared for I guess was the low round count (if I gotta point a finger, that's the reason)

So I get what I want in a para ordnance p14. 1911 purists may think of the model as an abomination, but I love mine!

And besides, the hipower has them all beat anyways:neener:

I've said for years that Glocks and 1911's were the 2 gun designs with the most in common. The grip angles are almost identical, especially when the 1911 has the arched mainspring housing that the military found worked best after WW-1.

Apparently I need an excuse other than the grip angle.
It's been probably a decade since I've fired one...perhaps I'll give them another day in court.
The hardest part would be back pedaling my arguments to a dear friend who's always badgering me to get one.

What 1911 is that in the pictures? Looks nice!

I have enough Glocks (1). I have enough .40s (3). But I'm not sure I'll ever have enough 1911s (6)!

I'm not a big fan of .40S&W either, although I have a 2nd Gen Glock 22.

One thing that really helps is a steel guide rod and a 22lb. recoil spring.

I made that change Friday, and it made a world of difference. Now the Glock 22 just shoots like an M1911 with hot self-defense loads. It's almost enough to make me get a Glock 23 and do the same modification.

That having been said, my carry gun is a 3 1/2" M1911. It's heavier, but a LOT smaller, even than my Glock 19.

Why for is this thread here? Caliber war? Another Glock v. 1911 war? I have owned and currently own Glocks and have owned and currently own 1911's. Both can be reliable with a slight edge going to Glock in that respect and both can be accurate with a slight edge going to the 1911. Either will be deadly if need be. I still fail to see what we're getting at in this thread.

I love how width comparisons of 1911's always measure across the safety and/or include grips that are not on the slim side.

That TWO degrees makes all the difference in the world!!! :D

Information. :D

You say that, but there isn't a request or inquiry in the OP. There really isn't even an implied question.

What it does look like is a start of a Glock vs.1911 or .45ACP vs .40S&W troll thread.

I might be mistaken and I'm open to further explanation...or a rewrite of the OP to fit the commonly accepted parameters of a discussion

Until then, I'm closing this thread before it drifts too far afield
