I don't want to start a new thread on .50's, but I'm looking at a couple models. Mainly the Serbu BFG-50A, although it isn't out yet. Also looking at the Barrett 95 and a few of the Cobb rifles.

Problem is, I can't seem to find any websites online with prices for the Barrett or Cobb rifles. Could someone lead me in the right direction? Thanks.

Look around at some of the single shot bolt offerings. You might be surprised. In many cases you'll probably also find that they're easier to carry. Harris Gun Works made a "Shorty" bolt gun in .50 BMG a while back (not sure if they still do). McMillian makes some kick ass bolt guns. State Arms, now East Ridge Gun Company since Klaus's untimely passing also makes some solid bolt action type rifles. State Arms (East Ridge) also made a "Lightweight" version a few years ago that was 16.5 lbs. Very portable, and recoil was stout but not intolerable. My father had one for a time. I found one on the internet a while back that was for sale but I didn't have the funds at the time to take advantage. My 50 BMG purchase will mostlikely be an East Ridge.

State Arms/Eastridge are hell for stout and carry a very good backing and reputation. They are a shellholder design which mean you remove the bolt from the rifle and put the shell on the bolt.

The first time we got together as a group in SoCal a couple of the guys had SA rifles. One of the guys got a round that was loaded on the hot side and ended up getting scope eyed. We fixed him up and went about shooting, he pulled the bolt out of his rifle and had to tap the casing off the bolt. He said "hey guys, look at this". It was Win brass with the CAL 50 headstamp and it was printed/mirrored on the bolt face! Now that's HOT!!!

I would never hesitate to buy a SA rifle as the new owner has carried on with the same values that Klaus started. http://www.statearms.com/
